NATIONAL SCHOOLS MTB CHAMPS
THANK YOU for registering for shuttles. We are shuttling 380+ riders over the two days - so please read carefully and things should run super smooth! Lots of info here, but again - the more you know before you arrive - the smoother the day will be!
Parents - please show this email to your kids if they are riding, as they should retain a little more than at the briefing when they are all excited and raring to go!
If you have any questions, please email us at marlboroughmbc@gmail.com but please note shuttle registration is closed, we cannot swap you into another session or replace you with another rider and we are full.
We look forward to seeing you!
PREPARATION
Please come prepared for all weathers, bring food, fluids and adequate clothing. It may be windy and very cold, and with the number of riders we have, there may be some periods of waiting. Please bring warm clothes.
This is a private property and working farm
Note there is no cell reception onsite
No dogs
No smoking
SAFETY
As previously indicated - ALL RIDERS, without exception, are required to wear full race safety gear.
Gear will be checked as you load onto a shuttle, so no good planning to borrow someone else’s kit for registration!

Long pants or knee shin pads
Spinal protection, neck brace, elbow pads, shoulder protection and gloves are highly recommended.
ADULT ONSITE
Please note, as a condition of entry, all riders will need to nominate an adult that is staying onsite for the duration of the race of shuttles. One adult can be nominated for a few riders, but if that adult leaves (for example with an injured rider) all riders must leave too.
REGISTRATION
Registration for your shuttles starts half an hour before your first uplift. The first uplift will leave on time so if you rock up with five minutes only to spare - you may miss the first wave. Leave plenty of time to get there. It will take you 15-20 mins from Blenheim.
IN CASE OF ACCIDENT - WHAT IF I CRASH?
If you fall, please do your best to get yourself and your bike off the track.
Flag the next rider down if you need assistance
IN CASE OF ACCIDENT - WHAT IF I FIND SOMEONE WHO HAS CRASHED?
Should you come across an injured rider, secure the scene.
Stop other riders from crashing into you.
Stay with injured rider and send a following rider for help.
Stay with injured rider until help has arrived.
You will get to redo your run if you assist another rider. Helping an injured rider is more important than your run.
RIDE ETIQUETTE
If you catch up to someone, call out and wait for the rider to pull over. Be patient, there are limited places to stop and the rider may not be as confident as you.
If someone catches you, please pull over as quickly and safely as you can.
ACCESS TO JENTREE PROPERTY
Anyone found accessing the Jentree property from a shuttle uplift risks will be disqualified from the main event. This is strictly forbidden. All track access is outlined in the Event Manual and must be adhered to.
You agreed to these T&C when purchasing the shuttles.
AND FINALLY - DIRECTIONS!
Drive to Blenheim and head for Maxwell Road. You need to head South (away from town and towards the hospital) and this turns into Taylor Pass Road. Keep on driving (past hospital on left and then Taylor Pass Dam on right) and you are heading in the right direction. Keep on driving until the tar seal turns into gravel road and the event will be signposted on the road on the left hand side - just pass the second ford. About 15-20 mins from town centre. Physical address is 1165 Taylor Pass Road
Cheers,
